An Introduction

Welcome!

My name is Caitlin. I’m a wife, mother to two, Christian, military spouse, Beautycounter Consultant, sub-par cook, exercise lover, coffee enthusiast, reality-tv junkie and loyal friend. This space is to document, illustrate and reflect upon our moments; both the mundane and the noteworthy, our accomplishments, setbacks, favorite things, lessons learned and some sprinklings of everything in between.

So, why “The Anchored Day”? When I set out to brainstorm names for this blog, I took out a notepad and scribbled down trigger words, phrases and places that reminded me of our little family, what is important to us and what encourages us. I realized after several nights of this exercise that I kept coming back to anchors.

Anchors, aside from being my preferred design on anything — from baby clothes to wine bottle labels, are essentially a symbol of our life in many ways. As a military spouse, the anchor ties back to my husbands service to our country. He hails from the San Francisco Bay Area, and I from Annapolis, Maryland, perched in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay – so to say we both have a love affair with water and the gift of having grown up in such nautically-influenced towns is an understatement. Lastly, one of my favorite Bible verses, from Hebrews chapter 6 reads “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” We aspire to keep our hearts and each day anchored. Anchored to each other, to our core values, to our faith, our families and our friends. Alas, The Anchored Day.
